Hey guys new to the forums, have an 87 Firebird V6 (yea I know...)
Anyway, the engine is blown, and I plan to put another engine in it...

My question is, what engines can fit on the vehicle? Not looking to to a V8 swap or anything, just make it drivable. So are there any other engine options besides the factory v6 that came wih the car? Maybe a Buick engine? Any other GM v6 fit without much modification (fueling etc)?

most of us go w/ a 3.4 out of a 93 to 95 camaro. try a search, youll find oodles and oodles of info on this swap. there are a few other swaps that have been done, but thats the easiest and most common

try this to locate an engine from a wrecker in your area

the 3.1 fits too but i would try really hard to find a 3.4 first as you will be way happier and its got more *****

 

yep 3.1 with 140 hp (5 more than your 2.8) or the 3.4 with 160hp (25 more hp than a 2.8) i think if your gonna upgrad mine as well do the 3.4. check this out https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...apboogie.shtml
