got the new motor in, don't remember where things go

I just swapped out my 2.8, for another 2.8 from an 85 firebird into my 88 RS. but im having problems figuring out where all the small hoses hook up to, and a couple wires. anyone know how I can figure it all out, i have the one repair book, but it doesn't go into enough detail. thanx

You might still have the emissions tag/label on the front of the car, under the hood. It has a picture of the hoses and some names.

And I don't want to sound like a butthole, but always mark hoses, wires and things like that with tape/marker or tags when dismantling/changing an engine. Makes life easier.

As a GUIDE
I can offer ya a 1985 MPFI hose chart
BUT BE FOREWARNED
YOUR VEHICLE IS MUCHO DIFFERENT due to
ya have a stick set up. Like something with a smog pump. Automatics (like supplied hose routing illustration) do NOT have the pump nor those A.I.R tubes on manifolds.

The 1985 MPFI supplied smog illustration is a one year stand alone design.
BUT as a foundation to what ya have, I'm sure it will help.

To patch all the cracked plastic hoses & such you will need find windshield wiper washer hose of 5/16" size. Also score some 1/4" W. wiper hose and a very short section of 1/2" super sidewall strong heater core hose (for main PVC feed off engine block by distributor base).
The majority of the hoses will literally fall back into place. Work forward from that tip, then keep isolating the remaining.
Is it tedious OH MOST DEFINETLY but ncessary! Don't feel bad IF ya need remove the upper intake, again to gain access to some hose sections. I have done so.
Again in end, make most secure connections & your vacuum range seeking is above 15 (more like 17) on a vacuum gauge.
I also have to add that marking the hoses "works" BUT.. an illustration guide is really the best to have in hand. No these illustrations tend not to be found in a shop manual, either.
Again, big tip, majorty will fall right back into place, work forward from that tip. As long as ya was smart enough to keep them somehow continually connected during your intial swap.

do you have a digi camera? Take some pics of items in question, size them down just a hair, then load on here. I bet between us we can figure out where they go.
