get a haynes manual, but basically the little plug in terminal below your steering wheel, on the far top right you put a paper clip in the second from farthest and very furthest right holes, turn the ignition on, and it'll flash once long and twice short indicating 12 3 times. After those 3 it will spit out any other codes, a long flash means a 10 so 3 long flashes means 30.

it sounds hard but its so easy

Yes very easy. If you don't want to do the paper clip method, there are little plugins that fit in there perfect, I bought one because i hate getting in there and doing it, this way I can just stick it in and turn the ignition to on and it throws them.

Unless your Check engine light is coming on, you have no use for it. Its still nice to have just incase.

Autozone had the code checker key shaped device for our cars. You usually have to ask for one!

Its basically jumpering the 2 terminals in the computer and the car will flash the 1-2 code to tell you its working... then flash the codes at you. Pretty good system for us fixer up ourselfers!
