testing to identify leaky injector
testing to identify leaky injector
I would like to test my injectors to see if they are leaking (which ones) and heard about removing the fuel rail and sitting the injectors over the holesand watch for drips. Did I hear correctly, can you do this? What about the cold start injector line. Will that move enough when lifting the rail??

close. Remove the upper 1/3rd, pull the rail with fuel lines and injectors still installed. Get some rope or string, and suspend it about 3 inches above its usuall spot, and line its spot with shop towels
Pull the two plugs to your ignition coil.
Hit the key, let the pump prime, turn key back off.
Watch and observe for a good 5 min or so. It wont happen in 10-30sec, it will take longer unless the injector is SCREWED.

ok cool, thanks dale
What about the CSI line though? won't that be in the way trying to lift the rail 3"? Will it bend that much? Do you leave it plugged in or take it out and put in a plug?

sorry, forgot about it cause I dont have one. Yes, it will need to be removed from back of intake and lifted with rail. It will need to be checked as well.
