going from mpfi to carb...
What do I need??
4bbl intake manifold
carb
***what do I do for distributor.*** Are there non-computer HEI for v6? What is best street carb for this? Motor is 3.4, stock with a little bowl blending. Do I keep the computer hooked up for the tranny (700-r4).
Any advice appreciated.

you need a dist. from a S-10. it needs to just be a standard vacuum advance. you will need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. some brackets for throttle cable and TV cable. more than likely about a 4" cowl hood cause the edlebrock carb setup site pretty high. you don't need the computer for the tranny but you can leave it in place for the VATS system to work. I would just cable tie the parts of the wiring harness that aren't used off to the side. you do need to leave the two coolant temp sensors hooked up though so that your fan will still work and your guage in the car. that's about all that i can think of right now. oh yeah, a 390 holley would probably be that carb you'd want.

using the mpfi fuel pump will be to much pressure, advise getting a fuel pump for a 93 s10 with TBI. It is still more pressure then needed, but that fuel regulator will beable to handle that.
ECM will also control the fuel pump too.

No insult intended but
I think it's a waste to ruin a great combo (MPFI & 3.4) for a carb set up, unless it's factory that way (as is my 1985 S-10 Blazer set up, federal version is what ya seek).
I love the way my MPFI set up combines with the larger displacement
Smooth power band, great fuel economy, pretty darn reliable.
It'll be less expensive to "fix" any problems than to invest in the carb set up.
Fuel pressure for MPFI is 45PSI, carbs run only 5-7PSI. Pressure Regulators cost anywhere from $6-$200.
Dropping tank for the labor to change fuel pump per above suggestion (great call!!) is more labor than worth.
Labor to change induction/ignition system
Cost of the parts. That Holley is like $400-$500 new carb. Intake (two parts) is like $250-ish.
Cables/gaskets/hunting for better bargins (where that may take ya)
You're looking at $500+ minimum to change to a carb.

Afpr will take care of that.
as for converting........maybe he's tired of sensors & whatnot, or plans on geting a fageol charger & will have a fuel system to support it.

i don't think the fuel pump will be a problem, just run the AFPR. i really think that the carb setup will wake up the top end hp on these motors. i have the setup and was planning to try it before i built my new manifold. since then, i haven't spent too much time thinking about it but i would still like to try it just to compare.

thanks for the input!
I was hoping to get some opinions. I put this thing together but found a large oil leak behind the intake manifold and wondered what a carb would do on it since it's gotta come back off anyway. I've swapped tpi to carb before so I know about the fuel pressure. I am growing tired of sensors...
But I was shocked to see how much that 2-piece intake costs!!!! Anybody got a used one?

3.8 conversion hasn't started since I got back from deployment. I've been finishin gup interior, engine bay, pretty much everything else. I've exhausted my resources (wallet) on it\. I've checked & rechecked wiring, even bought 96 pcm, bcm, keylock & key. I have a buyer lined up (conditional) and will be crossing over to the darkside via a local hookup. Yeah, I know "Don't do it", but I miss driving the car, all 2yrs ago & what not.
