wierd backfiring
I often get an exhaust backfire from my 2.8L when shifting from 2nd to 3rd under moderate to heavy excelleration. Any idea why this is happening?

Does it sound like a "popping" sound? Does it happen after you let off the throttle in upper rpm ranges? If so, it's probably just the AIR system at work. My car did it until I unplugged the AIR solenoids.

Yeah, it does kinda sound like 'popping'. I'll see if I can disconnect the AIR solenoids and see if that helps.
