3.1LV6 cold starting gremlins

The car starts right away cold and idles for about 1 minute. Then the tach jumps up about 800 rpms with no audible corresponding rev in engine. This goes on for some 3 to 5 minutes with the tach jumping up and down and the car trying it's best to stall. Without constantly revving the engine around 2800 to 3200 rpms, it will die. When it dies, it usually takes about 5 minutes before it will start again. But it always starts again eventually. When it runs long enough to reach about 200 degrees then it runs fine afterwards without missing a beat. The coil, pick up coil, distributor cap and rotor are new. I do not believe it is a fuel problem. After the car "warms up" it runs fine. I am stumped.

Clean your Idle Air Control (IAC) valve out with some carb cleaner, then adjust your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), after that adjust your Minimum Air Setting (Idle Speed) correctly since doing the previous two will more than likely change it slightly even if it is right as of the moment.

Use the search feature for the IAC and TPS adjustment, there's a healthy amount of threads on it so you should have no trouble.
