advantage of a v6?

I have a 91 3.1 v6. I have always been told to throw in a 350. it seems too much work. especially for someone without a garage to do it. what are the advantages of keeping a v6? i know there are some besides gas miles

personally, i feel like the v6 cars handle better b/c they aren't as nose heavy...

Handling, definitely.

Less weight, as well.

LOL

Uncork the motor, and see what you can make her do... remember, there has been NO aftermarket for these V6s. A few of us are working to change that

v6 cars definitly have much more cornering potential than a v8 car. just ask dean(thev6jerk is his name now i believe). other than that there isnt a huge advantage other than the fact that you already have one in your car, if you want the most power youll want a v8. im not saying get one, im pretty happy with my v6. in a few years i plan on making enough power to give many v8s a run for their money, and more so on the autocross scene, so i say if you can afford to pay a little more for power, keep the v6.

weight is the only one i can think of, but then again you can do a LSx swap and that goes right out the window so gas is really the only thing

When I had my 90 'bird, 3.1/auto/3.54 rear, I used to whack 305 computer carb third gens.

Especially now that there are so many engines out there to work with, You just need a 3.4 short block and then some turbo/super charger stuff. Some of the guys here do it already.............

Then there's always the buick option..........

Nothing wrong with a good six!!

doward has the only turbo kit for our cars, it runs around 3 grand i think. im sure he'll tell you enough about it real soon here. other than his you would have to go custom with a turbo, and even if you went sc you would probably have to go custom too. there are whisperings and evidence of sc kits for our cars, but none readily available at least.

the v6 still has an advantage over the ls engines--its weight is set farther back in the engine bay. and it appears that the 60*v6 is the engine of choice for many gm passenger cars, including the new/upcoming rwd caddies and stuff, so look for aluminum rwd blocks in the future, probably with displacements of ~3.9l, that will bolt right under our stock equipment. not a guarantee, but it certainly seems quite possible.
