Anyone remove thier EGR crossover pipe?
Just wondering. I noticed mine gets real hot only after about 30 seconds of run time from a cold start. I heard it might be the digital EGR but I have put on a used one as well with no change. Hard to believe 2 in a row would be bad. Anyway, what I was wanting to do was take the crossover pipe off and block off the opening coming off the pipe from the manifold and block off the other end that is located on the throttle body. Seems like the air going in the throttle body would be cooler therefore better gas mileage and hp. Anyone ever try this and how'd you do it?

I just got a piece of thin sheet metal and made a small plate the same size as the end of the tube.
I put it between the tube and the plenum with a gasket on both sides of the plate to prevent air leaks.
You can't tell it's there unless you look real close, this is a good thing since I still need to pass the visual emissions check.
I can't tell any difference in performance.
I did it so the plenum wouldn't get as dirty from all that exhaust going through it. Really idiotic IMO to filter your air and then pump dirty exhaust gases in after the filter!
edit: I get 25 mpg, and all my driving is short trips, 10-20 miles.
