How far do I need to go with rebuild...

I'm startiong to take apart my old motor (230k kms) and was wondering how far I should rebuild it. Should I get remanned heads or just change valve seals? New cam and lifters? I don't want to get to deep into it. I'm pretty sure a new water pump and timing chain should be done. Anything else? A 3.4 is not in the budget...

if youre rebuilding a high mileage motor, i dont think you should go any shorter than all the way, in which case a 3.4 is defintely on budget, seeing as you can get one with low miles for probably less than you could rebuild your 2.8

oh wait . .. 230k km= . . . . ~ 110k miles? why rebuild that?

oh damnit, thats kgs->lbs, still thats only like 140k miles, right?

we've got 330k mileage 2.8s running here, mines got 230k almost and its doin just fine. dont waste money rebuilding that 2.8, just save up for a 3.4. its like rebuilding a 305, why bother when the next step up is only a small amount more, with a ton more potential.

take those monies, put them in the bank, and soon enough you'll have a 3.4.

i'd never recommened a half *** rebuild, if your gonna do it do it right and do it completely, so that motor will go for another 200k easily
