1.6 rockers

Looking into a set of 1.6 roller rockers. I know I will need a new valve cover. As anybody seen aftermarket valve covers for this engine? How well will 1.6s respond to an engine with stock internals or should i get 1.52??

You can get the hard to find fieros.

Eldabrock makes some
mr gasket made some
I'm sure a few others do too.

Simulation programs show 1.6 rockers add about 3hp, and 1tq.

Possible - due to less valvetrain friction

Dale I noticed you have 1.6s. Just curios where you found your valve covers??

Are the stock valve covers just not tall enough or do they need to be wider too? I was thinking about cutting the valve covers near the base and welding some slighlty taller walls to it. Fabbing a set up shouldn't be too hard.

if you get aluminium, they are also lighter allowing for faster reving

I have fiero valve covers (go to my site, you can see them, as well as my latest post about lb8 intake). You need height, and not alot more. Like maybe .25". I've been told double gasketing makes it clear, but risk more leaks then this setup is already known for.

My rockers are catpep rockers, slightly modified.

reading in the v8 section, some people dont recommend aluminum rockers as I guess the heat tends to make them warp and get brittle and snap.

may the design is crappy forthe rockers. I seriously doubt that the heat in the rockers location will fatigue them that much/fast. Also, what brand are these failures happening & how lift is being induced?
