V6 maf to sd conv.

V6 maf to sd conv.

hi, there,
has anyone here actually converted their maf V6 to a sd setup? i have an 88 firebird w/ a transplanted 91 3.1. i also have the computer from the 91 that the engine came out of. my questions are basically:
1) can you swap the maf for a map, and that's it?
2) if not, do you have to change the whole ecm or can you just swap proms?
3) are the pinouts different betw/ the 2.8 and the 3.1 ecm's?
4) are the plugs themselves different?

don't everyone scream at me all at once, b/c i did search for it. it seems that everything i found was only pertaining to v8's, though...

You will need to swap out the current ECM for the '730 (the 3.1l ECM). The MAF gets removed and a MAP installed. The ECM end of the wiring harness will need to be re-pinned. IIRC another connector housing needs to be added (current ECM has 2 connectors? The 3.1l ECM has 3).

Go to the DFI & ECM board (here on TGO) in the sticky's is a bunch of information in a thread by TechSmurf.
