Really LOUD tapping noise.
Just what the title says, out of the blue my car started making the most apparent clicking/tapping noise while driving today. If I accelerate the tapping accelerates with it. I assume this is a valve tap? Not sure, any suggestions, ideas, solutions? Thanks guys.

Just a quick update, did the long screw driver test, and placed it on the valve covers and it couldn't really hear anything. However, put it near the intake manifold and it got very apparent. Then put it near the driver side exhaust manifold and it got louder. But it wasn't as apparent on the passenger side manifold. On a side not, the exhuast seemed a little deeper after the tapping started, would a valve tap cause that? Could you hear a tap through the valve covers?

So if I replace the injectors the ticking should stop? I mean it was the loudest on the injectors, and I could barely make anything out from the valve covers. There has also been a very strong exhaust smell coming from the car, almost like gasonline lately. Could that be a sign of bad injectors?

Especially since you can smell fuel through the exhaust you want to get them replaced ASAP, as the longer you wait, the more fuel washed your cylinders become stripping away lubrication for the rings, burning them up.
