AIR removal question
i KNOW this has been covered, i searched and could not find the old thread. i am pretty sure i was the starter of the thread too. anyway here is the Qs:
what issues arise from removing air injection?
it continues to run after the engine is warm, right?
are there any differences in the way the v8 air systems work as compared to v6? (other then more tubes)?
thanks guys, sorry to repeat the questions.

Car: a car being parted out
Engine: blown up
Transmission: in peices
I just unhooked the outlet tube.
Yeah it still turned with the belt, but at a much more decreased load.
As long as you plug lines if you remove it totally, there are no real side effects unless you have to smog...

Yeah, you shouldn't notice a problem unless you disconnect the electrical connectors, that might turn on the SES light.
As far as our systems and the V8 systems, there is really no difference other than how they function when warm.
When ours are cold, they pump air into the exhaust, but only when cold. Once the car is in closed loop, if everything is functioning properly, it just pumps out to atmosphere.
On V8 cars, when the engine gets warm, it starts pumping into another tube that goes down into the middle of the cat. As far as everything else though, they're exactly the same.

so if ours no longer do anything once warm, how will that effect emissions testing (provided the car is at full oporating temp when testing)?
thanks

it doesn't, but since it has to be on the car for federal cold start emissions, it's federally required to stay on the car.

yeah, I don't know if the light will come on. I don't think so, but since there is a computer controlled solenoid on it, I'm not 100%
