sensor questions
Hi,
Is there any way for the TPS to give bad voltage readings when the sensor itself is not bad? Because either I've got really bad luck with buying defective sensors, or something is causing my car to cook them or give false readings. In Aug. 2004 i replcaed it because it was reading 1.? at WOT..same thing happened a couple of weeks ago; the replacement caused my car to surge, so i returned it. The replacement is now having the same 1.? reading at WOT problem. So is it the car or the sensors? They have all been Standard brand (I wanted to try a different brand, but parts guy screwed up).
Also the MAF sensor seems to have gone bad again..that was replaced last July 2004; it's now setting codes 33 and 34. I saw the flow chart Tom posted some time ago, and I'd try that but there are a couple of things i don't know: "Disconnect ECM A-B connector"--where is this? and with the MAF terminals, which is "A"?
Thanks!

What does it read at idle? It sounds to me like you're testing it wrong... If not, with the car off, set your DMM to its lowest resistance range and test each wire vs ground.

lol Wouldn't be the first time I made a dumb mistake.. Reading between the top two wires, I set the TPS to read 0.54, with the multimeter set to read to two decimal places.
Will try your suggestion tomorrow in daylight. Thanks!
