Couple Problems
Ok, unfortunatly I am still driving the bird, and theres a couple things bothering me right now. First is that Im losing coolant very slowly. Ive lost maybe an 1/8 of the radiators capacity in the last 3 months. That said, my water pump went bad and I replaced it. I am 99% sure that nothing is leaking right now, so I think I am burning it.
Secondly, after Ive driven for a while and stop it smells like something is burning. To me it doesnt smell like coolant, though, that should smell sweet, correct? 99% sure its not exhaust, Ive checked it for leaks. It smells like metal burning up. Im afraid its my clutch, but Im not sure. It has plenty of fluid, and it feels odd sometimes.
I know thats not real specific, but maybe someone can give me some things to check or look for.

transmission oil smells sweet, coolant maybe, i really hate the coolant smell. And having a firebird is not unfortunate.
I had a mysterious coolant leak in my 92 v6. That black plastic thing that one of the heater core hoses hooks up to. That thing was cracked ever so slightly i found out. Maybe check that out b/c i know it took me a long time to find that leak. And it just so happened that coolant from that leak was dripping or splattering on the manifolds, i think.

Does the car ever boil over into the overflow tank?
You might want to check/replace the radiator cap. Sometimes it'll go bad and the collant just evaporates and you never know it until you check it. it's common, so you might just want to replace it if it's old or you've never replaced it.

clutch smells like brakes but worse. Maybe thats just me. But I do have a similar problem, a weird burning smell. Mine's coming from my heaters and only my heaters, but now I have...things...coming out of my heaters...stuff you'd find on trees/bushes. The windshield was busted on my car (my friend went thru it...long story) before I got it for about a month so that's how that crap got in there, possible you have a similar thing going?
Coolant reminds me of celery. Burning celery, and a hint of fish. I learned this smell since my sister cant cook. I too, hate the smell of coolant, but I have to deal with it daily since I work in a shop. Have you tried getting your fluids dyed to make sure nothing's leaking? I seem to have a knack for getting cars with mystery leaks, ones that only leak while its driven but not at idle (camaro has a mystery oil leak above the starter, the regal has a mystery coolant leak that only leaks when driving for long periods of time)
Out of curiosity, when you replaced the water pump did you flush the radiator? Last time I did a water pump there was lots of rust involved, wondering if the metal smell could be from rust deposits in the radiator?

Thanks for the tips guys. When I said I was mad about still driving the bird, I was referring to the fact that I live in upstate NY, and its not the ideal vehicle for this season. I finally got it put away for the winter today.
I did flush the radiator, and actually I wouldnt be surprised if the radiator cap was bad, because it took forever to get it off at first, and I have never had coolant blow back into the bottle.
