all about the timing
When I went to set the timing on my 2.8L V6 engine,I followed the procedure step -by step. The single wire connector was disconnected,(brown wire),the distributor was rotated to 10 degrees, retightened by friend so distributor would not move, engine shut off, then the wire was re-connected, engine started, check timing, timing still off, WAY OFF.
Any ideas?

After you plug the wire back up, it will be way off.
After distrib is tightened, check it again with the wire dx.
Plug wire back up n drive off.
