strange noise....bad??

so we changed my spark plugs and put in a new ERG valve. had to remove the alternator to gain eayser access to one of the plugs. (3.1 engine). got everything done and while in the car, it kinda sounded like the defrosted was on.
it was making an unfamiler noise. the EGR valve came with 2 gaskets- one which i have no idea where it goes.. so i didnt use it.

any idea what this new noise could be?

Did you put a gasket where the stem of the egr meets the exhaust manifold? Mine's got a pretty good leak right there due to broken bolt and no gasket...

Axle/Gears: No idea ATM
is it a gasket that goes to the bendable pipe? the one from the egr stem to the upper plenum neck?
