steering shaft dust cover broke important?

steering shaft dust cover broke important?

notcied today that my steering shaft dust cover is just flopping around. is it important? is it dangerous i dont think it would catch on anything..

How did it break? It just hooks over one of the power steering hard lines at the gearbox...

Axle/Gears: open 3.42, posi 3.42
i had one break on a j'yard car when i dropped the steering column to get to the pedals . . . granted i dropped the column all the way down to the floor, and the thing was brittle as hell.

i wouldnt really worry about it.

one of my mechanics must of broke it cause i didnt notice it till i got my echaust on

unless it somehow broke itself
