Another yet different 3.4 question
Ok guys, here's one that I have not seen before. It seems that everyone who does the 3.4 swap has a good transmission....mine isn't so good (...of course, why not?
....
)
So I remember someone sid that I'll definetley have to get it rebuilt. but while I'm going to be opening my wallet, is there anything I should tell the transmissin guys to put in? Any stronger parts/kits? As far as I know it's a completley stock 700R4 with 100,000 plus miles on it.
Bascally should they add anything to make the 700 stronger to handle the extra power? Don't wanna break the bank...just something to make this combo last a while and make it real pleasant to drive. Thanks in advance!

Shift kit (think transgo was the favored?)
Extra deep oil pan, and filter to match
vette servo
Theres some other part, that i cant think of the name (its 1 of 2 round things from the outside)
v8 clutches
different stall converter
poly trans mount
poly torque arm mount
And no, not everyone here had a good trans. In fact, the trans blowing after installing a 3.4 is very commen.

have teh tranny built up to the 93 spec minimum (yes, the 4L60 & the 700 are the same tranny, just different designation) This way any other hop up will be built on top of factroy fresh specs.

When I did the 3.4 swap I didn't blow my tranny. Its not like your putting THAT much more power into it. My Tranny was junky too.

I've been pondering whether I should get my tranny rebuilt too, or just replace the throttle valve when the 3.4 goes in and see what happens. Depends if the engine I get comes with the tranny too. If I start towing my quad around though I should probably go for a rebuild.
