water pump

water pump

how do i get past the power steering pump to get the water pump off? do i need to remove the whole pump? cuz i tried to just take the pully off of the power steering but its so tight the belt just slips. your help is appreciated...

just unbolt the entire bracket and set it aside.

ok i finally got past the ps pump and now i have all the bolts off the water pump except one! its one of the torx bolts and it is stripped out the a**. any ideas?

Get a screw extractor, you can drill into the middle of the torx bolt where the threads are stripped then drill the extractor in there and hopefully take it out....

You could also go cave-man style like I did. Grind the head right off, take the pump off. Then heat the thing up with a torch and grab on to it with some vice grips and yank hard. When I got mine out, coolant gushed out from the hole.

welded a nut to it and unbolted it. haha. easier than i could have ever imagined. thank ***!!

HEHE...just got me a welder...nice to have extra options.

I didnt do it, but on the Lincoln I had, the mechanic told me he cut off the heads and then torched em, and threw water on them to try and shrink them. Did that a few times and broke em loose. Similar to what you are saying
