Removing camshaft from 3.4l
I'm trying to remove the camshaft from my 3.4 and i can't get it out, it seems to be caught on the shaft from where the distributor is. i cannpt remove the peice in the whole , and i'm not familiar witht he 3.4 dis setup.
any help would be great, this is the third 3.4 i've bought and i've never had a cam in one, i'd love to ge tthe machining finished and this is really getting to be a problem.
i tried pulling it out with pliers and i couldn't and i tried unscrewing it but thats not helping.
thanks guys

I never removed the camshaft on my 3.4.
I did on my 2.8 and 3.1 and had no problem removing them thru the front after the distrib was out.
The hex rod down the back comes out fairly easy with some needle nose if your saying you think that is the problem.

cam sensor's gotta come out because it'll probably catch on the lobes and/or journals. the dumby dist. HAS to come out before the cam will come out. you are hitting the gear on the dist. on the rear cam journal...the cam will not come past it. that dumby distributor can be tough to get out but i'd try getting a flat head screw driver under the edge of it (after the clamp is off, of course) and twist/pry it up. you might need to put some penetrating oil on it and let it soak a little to help break it free but you do have to get it out of there.

The oil pump drive, pulls straight out the hole. Yes it's a PITA, yes you'll curse and swear, but it will come out. Get a flat head screwdriver between it and the block, then pry up.
