Accelerator Cable?

My dad recently gave me a banged up 85 Camaro to me as a gift for college and I've been hoping to fix it up. I noticed that the accelerator sagged all the way to the floor and is pretty limp, no tension whatsoever. I take a look under the hood and as far as I can tell, theres no cable connecting the accelerator to the throttle body. I've looked on eBay for a replacement and I the closest I came up with was a cable pulled from a 84 Z28.

Here's a pic I took of the engine compartment.

I know Im a noob but any help would be greatly appreciated!

take a closeup of this area so we can see if the cables are there or if there is any other damage.

Edit: didnt get the pic in

see the hole in that bracket? thats where it is supposed to go through since it is not there and neither is the thing that holds it i bet it is some where under the upper plenum and it just poped out. see if you can shine a light in there and see it. if not it ma have fallen out the back some how and is just floping around.

Edit: did it again

could you do me a favor and take a pic of the rear of the pass side head in this area and see if there is a sensor in the corner sticking out? i just noticed that you have a camera and the same year of car as mine and from what i have hear there is supposed to be a sensor there but I dont have one just a plug.

Edit: i also just noticed that your intake tube going into the throttle body is off put that back on, these cars must have no more air than that black tube sensor in the air flow sees or it wont run right.

Well the car is parked behind one of my dad's building out in Bayonne, New Jersey...a good hour and half or so from where I live (Queens). I just came back from checking to see if the car could start and if I could drive it back to my garage, but the battery is dead. From what I understand the car has been sitting there for a few years, untouched. I could take some pics for you next saturday when I go to check up on it again.

naw dont worry bout it just get her goin. these 2.8s might not be anywhere near the power of a V8 but if driven properly they can still be hella fun.

Edit: if it were me as soon as i gots her runnin id get a soft wire brush and some kinda engine cleaner and get that engine cleaned up. see if ya cant get some of that rust off of there.

The phantom fan switch in the pass side head. its suposed to be there but i cant even find the disconnected wire that is supposed to connect to it in the wire harness.

Kyuusei: on closer inspection of your pics you are missing three cable linkages 1. for throttle kick down (with auto trans), 1. for the gas pedal and 1. for the Cuse if your car has it. which since your car has AC i would assume it does. has the engine been out of that car that you know of? cause those linkages all come up through or next to that bracket there and you have to disconnect them to remove the engine.

Hmm all I know is that it was driveable prior to being parked there for a few years. It has a manual tranny so thats one linkage down. What do you mean by Cuse? Cruise Control? I'd have to check up on that.

ya i ment the CC i didnt know how to spell it . well i would still look and see if the pedal linkage has not just been disconnected and is under the plenum or has mabe fallen further back. If it is gone totaly you would need one from a V6 camaro or firebird cause i dont think one from a V8 would work, the throttle body on them is much further forward so it would be longer. but Jyards are usually willing to sell the V6 parts super cheap cause of there not very popular for replacements usually if someone needs to replace the engine in one of these cars they put in a V8. i know the Jyards around here in kansas have huge stocks of V6 stuff that just sits but the V8 stuff goes out faster than they can get it in.

Hmm if so that could be why it dont work cause my chiltons listed that as the Gauge/light sender and i removed it and installed a aftermarket gauge inplace of the light.

this is the throttle linkage going to the pedal. to drive the car this is the only one you need.

as long as you have somthing coming out of this hole you can follow it to wherever it is going now and hook it back up and drive
