Removing Vlave Cover

I am trying to remove my alternator valve cover since I have ticking. I took the coil bracket off, the hole EGR with all its tubes and a buch of other stuff to have the hole side clear. Now do I relly have to take the TB off to get the damn vlave cover off. It does not seem to get out and haynes says I have to remove the TB and plenum(btw what is that?). It also seems like I would have to remove the hole hole intake. The bolts are all out. If I do that I wont be able to start my engine and adjust my rocker arms... so I was wondering if it is okay to force it out. It is not much about 1-2 CM holding it.

You have to take the whole TB off to get to the other bolts.

I did remove the other bolts, the ones towards the middle of the engine (small hands with long fingers ). I also took out the screws that the bolts went on. Still the cover wont come off.

Did you try to pry it off? Sounds like a sticky gasket if you have all the bolts off. Try to tap it loose with a hammer.

Just so we get things clear, I am not too got at naming car parts in english so bear with me if I call something wrong.

It is loose. It gets stuck on the intake manifold(those metal tubes that the TB connects to).

If you bend the valve cover to get it off when you put it back on the gasket will not seal like it should and you will have a leak.

I have heard others remove the covers w/o pulling the intake.

I say screw it and pull all of it.

Next time the intake comes off, I'm studding everything.

Stud the intake, not the valve covers.

I have fiero covers, so they cant be studded.(well, better if there not)

Well there is a very ugly sight under that cover. Bent pushrod cut through the guide plate and the rocker was pushing on the side of the valve. I grinded a bitfrom the top it to make it flat again but I am really worried that the valve might be bent. How can I check if the valve is bent without pulling the head off?

Not sure how to tell if the valve is bent.

If you need them parts, let me know I basically have 2 sets off all you mentioned as parts.

Thx a lot. Where are you located? If you are in South Ontario it would be great because I need my parts ASAP. If not I guess I will just wait for GM to deliver that guide next week
