turbo install /w pics
AND IT BEGINS
After going with a na 2.8 for a while and getting into the low 15,s off the nitrous ive decided that i wont get much more out of this motor without turbo/supercharging
current na motor specs
2.8 v6
Ported intake
Custom ram air kit
Wild cam 248/258 @.050 500/520
custom chip
ported and milled heads
10-1 compression
low temp stat
3" ex system
and msd 6al
and a 100 shot of nitrous but i never made it down the track using it
new motor specs are as follows
2.8 v6
ported intake
stock cam ( old one has to much overlap to be any good with turbo
custom chip
new heads/stock with wild porting/but not milled for added compression/
thicker head gaskets to lower compression even further
custom turbo manifold/headers
sbc 327 small journal rods
low temp stat
4 " spintech ex system
msd btm
25 shot of nitrous
fmic
and 1 buick regal turbo
This weekend im going to pull my curent heads and drop the new heads on / swap out the cam and pull the oil pan to weld in a fiting for the oil return for the turbo. Get the msd installed. And get the front cross member notched for the downpipe.

so far ive goten the heads and oil pan off / and the cam swapped. but i forgot that we had milled the intake down to match my milled heads, (if u mil the heads and not the manifold base it will not seal/leak). but luckily my local junkyard has a lower manifold But i wont get it till monday.
I got the an fitting in the oil pan.
tom i will install the new heads and oil pan and get some pics

Well I believe on a turbo you want heat in the pipes? right?
why they ceramic coat the piping, it holds the heat inside the pipe. Also keep the piping cool to the touch.
though on the turbo main housing and its thick cast metal. Id use powder coating on it. Powder creates a thermal bond that cools better then bare metal. Plus it looks nice.
I can get ya hook up for diirt cheap on both.

a little big for a 2.8 maybe, but with ported heads it should be okay. not 100% sure cause i never looked into turbo sizing for the 2.8, just a 3.4.

leo ur not the only one,lol im not sure how to run all the inlet pipes to and from my intercooler yet,the only thing i know for sure is the turbo is mounting driverside infront of the motor, soon as i get th enew turbo in, this is going to gether.Right now its taken about 1.5 weeks longer then i had originally planed, only cause this car is a daily driver, and i only get to work on it 1 day every weekend, though the final install day ill prolly take 2 days
