thnx

that would be fun having the 3 turbo cars go at it,when i started this project,i didnt relise how much work this was actually going to be,and thought i was gonna have this finished almost a month ago, well that and working many hours a day now hasnt left me much time, but its comming along slowly, hopefully by the end of this month i should be done.

one other thing this car is a daily driver and gets driven everyday while all this is being done which makes it take alot more time.

well the new trans is in,and i must say dammmnnn what a diff, though i used trick shift instead of reg trans fluid,so the shifts are a lil to harsh for street driving(locks up rera tires on downshift if i downshift early, and the converter needs to be lossened up a bit more, the one thing im not pleased about is im not able to hold 4th gear under wot, anyone happen to know if anyone makes a valve that alows wot 4th gear operation, right now its got the 3/4 valve.

oh i almost forgot after i did the trans yesterday, i was poking around and found a place with a good price on a t04e stage 3 57 trim turbo .63 ar hot side and .50 ar cold side.so i bought that last night woot.i shoudl have it by friday this week.though this turbo isnt an all out drag turbo its hsould do very well for street/strip driving.it was figured that this turbo could put out about 15-17 psi on the 2.8 before it falls flat on its face.not to mention as i can prolly spool this turbo on the foot brake and leave the line under boost.as to were the t61 prolyl wouldnt spool until 3.300 rpm, though that turbo was capable of making around 25 psi+ on the 2.8

ok just another late update this past wensday i bolted the slicks on the car/and put the 100 shot of nitrous back on.then i find out that it was raining at the track so i stayed home.left the slicks on the car.and headed out to a fbody club meet at night.well im stuck at a light and as it turns green i start to pull away from the light and bam. the engine shuts off.the dam timming chain snapped.
right now i have no idea if the engine is any good.but i shoudl know sometime late sunday or early next week.ill get the new timming chain on and do a compression test on all cyl's/and a leakdown test of each cyl to see if i bent any valves.if the motor turns out to be junk. i may go get a 3.1 longblock to swap in

you shouldnt have any bent valves, these arent interference engines. you should be good to go with a new chain.

once again alive and kicking, that old chain must have been really streched cause the car deff runns even better now.

im going to look into possibly getting a one off gear drive made or possible being able to retrofit a gear drive off another engine onto the 60* v6

One of the guys I work with put a "quiet" Pete Jackson gear drive in his Monte Carlo SS. That thing makes the most annoying sound I have ever heard from a car. I'd stick with a good quality chain if I were you.

Yeah I will NEVER use a gear drive, too much transmitted harmonics from the crank to the cam. It seems that anybody who uses one at some point breaks a cam shaft.

Also look at all of the top power engines out there, NONE of them use gear drive, MOST will use a belt, and the remainder will use chain.

we use gear drives on all our dragster engines, never had a cam break.though my friend had a gear drive in his camaro the cam did break in that but it also kicked a rod at the same time,so im really not sure what caused the cam to break.
id love to use a belt drive.but jesel gets way to much money for one.an dim sure a custom belt drive would be even more exspensive

edit and btw the floating idler gear geardrives are horrible.i.e pete jackson/proform.the milidon etc drives arent that bad with the fixed idler.

just an update i had goten the turbo installed and ran into a few embarasing problems.thus of which have been fixed.i have tested the car @ 8-9 psi with an 12-1 fmu and 17# injectors and run into a lean condition up high rpms.
before i had fixed the problems i had decided to go ahead and spend the money to twin turbo the car and sell it(car is no longer for sale but i did get offers in the 5k+ range).would have been easier to twin turbo then to fix the ex problem i was having.well my parts arived today.so the single turbo setup is getting changed into a twin setup.i bought a second t04e stage 3 57 trim, second 38 mm wastegate, and a large dual inlet fmic.so all of this is gonna go in this week and should be finished by the mid of the following week.so the car can be taken upto ttp and tuned on the dyno.if all goes well the car will make its first test and tune on the 29th of this month @ island dragway.with subsequent attempts at the world v6 f-body et record which now stands at 11.91.which i would like to break at the f-body nationals this year in august
