cam install?
I want to install a cam, but have a few questions first.
1)If the initial compression on my engine is bad, then is a cam a waste of money? (Haven't checked compression yet)
2)Can it be installed with the engine in?
3)Should I upgrade the rollers, springs and lifters while I'm at it?
4)What's a good cam for making a daily driver quicker out of the hole.
5) -Off topic- Can I replace the main bearings while engine is still in car?

Not sure about the v6, but usually for the v8 if you have to do it with the engine in, you would have to remove the radiator, condensor, front nose so that you have enough room
someone else might pitch in and say if they have done it.

u dont need to remove the front nose. i changed my cam with the motor inside the vehicle. you gotta take out the radiator, and a X brace behind it, there is a sscrew on top and u can just move it to the side. take off alternator, water pump, crank pulley, harmonic balancer, easier with all front accessories off. also intake off so u can get the lifters out.

1)If the initial compression on my engine is bad, then is a cam a waste of money? (Haven't checked compression yet) YES!
2)Can it be installed with the engine in? On a V6, yes
3)Should I upgrade the rollers, springs and lifters while I'm at it? If you have the money, you might as well.
4)What's a good cam for making a daily driver quicker out of the hole. From what I hear, the MTC-5 is a good cam and can be procured from summit
5) -Off topic- Can I replace the main bearings while engine is still in car? Yes, but why? If you think you might have crappy compression, then it's a waste of time because the main bearings will not fix that problem. If you're gonna do that much work, pull the motor and rebuild or install a 3.4 that's already rebuilt.
