my car won't idle at a constant rpm. It keeps jumping from 1000 to about 2200 rpm. Anybody have any diagnoses??

Sure, you need to clean the IAC (idle air control) motor's pintle (pointy tip) and passageway.

Have you driven the car since you installed the new IAC?

You have to go above 40mph for the IAC to reset to 0 and the computer to be able to idle correctly. Then check for Vacuum leaks around the hoses, brake booster and intake.

Unmetered air leaks are the #1 cause of erratic idle.

No I haven't driven it yet this year cause I didn't want to mess anything up more. I guess you know what I'll be doing tomorrow.
