Question about injectors

I removed my injectors from my 2.8 and noticed that on some of them there is this metal pin that is sticking out of the end. Does that mean that the injector was getting ready to spray or just did?
I've noticed that my oil smells of fuel and is thinned out. I can't imagine that was caused solely on me cold cranking the motor, could it?
I still have to adjust the rockers and see if I can get the motor to fire.
Any thoughts?

why dont you just test the injectors and see if they work?

The injectors are spring loaded, when they become de-energized, they automatically close. I wouldn't worry about the pins on some and not the others, you said in the previous post that the fuel pressure was there, so they close like they should.

Thats precisely why you have thin oil smelling of fuel.
