About a million years ago when I had a V6 I used a 15mm swivel socket and a 6 inch extension. The socket/swivel combo was a little too tall.

I just got an old 15 mm long wrench and heated/bent it about halfway down (2 inches from socket head) to a rough 45/50* angle. Works great.
Otherwise hit up sears (known to have them) for a 15mm "S" wrench.
They are even labled GM HEI access wrench (or something like that)
I save the searing for something actually hard, like V8 Motor mount bolts, or the rear header bolts... or just something that refuses to co operate.

I also use a 15mm socket, universal/swivel joint, 7" extension, ratchet handle to get to that bolt.
When I first got the car, I cut a 15mm wrench in half and used the 6 point box end...
One big factor is how the distributor was dropped in. The connectors for the ignition module (going to the base of the distributor) may get in the way.
