Oh Snap!

looks like i found the pesky plug in the passenger side head for the 3.4 2.8 swap to bad i didn't see it earlier cause now my heads and intake is on it right now taken them off means re-placeing the gaskets and $, i was just woundering if anyone had any experiances removing it or have any ideas cause i already tried to grind down a bolt to fit in there and crank it with a wrench. Oviously it stripped it a bit. My next 2 plans are maybe grinding down a tad around the plug since it's sticking out a bit and take some vise grips to it, or i was thinking of welding a stud on it then just simply take it out but the whole heat issue with an engine not running and heat from the welder and cracking or warping the heads or causeing some other kind of damage, but anyways any ideas let me know. thanks

i couldnt get THE PLUG out, so i got myself an 11/16" drill bit and drilled carefully into the back right corner of the intake where there is a dead end for a water passafe comming out of the back of the head into the intake. then i used a 3/8" Pipe thread tap and tapped the hole then put in a fan switch, worked like a charm. you might want to try it on the back left corner of the intake, it seems like there is more room there. i did this with the base intake bolted on, i just had a vaccum on hand to get most of the shavings, and then put my hose into the spot where the thermostat housing is and flushed it out, letting the water come out of the timing cover, and i hope you know what part of the intake im talking about, where the water goes in at the front by the sensors and t-stat, that same holes are at the back of the intake, just dead ends, if you can wait until tommorow or the day after, i can get a picture

actually, it would only be getting into the water jacket, it wouldnt really effect anything. like motor internals and what not. it took me 5 minutes, i didnt have a chance to take a picture, it was my girlfiends camera, but i just took her home after i fell down the stairs....kinda beat to do anything

lol, oh alright i wasn't sure on if it was gunna be going into the cylinders or not but the cooling system is a lot better than having it go into the cylinders. Plus u could just flush it out without harming anything. awesome thanks for the tips dude

here is where i drilled the hole and here it is now in the car..its the bigger white one between the intake bolt and stud., i had a little trouble tightening it b/c i put it to close to the lip of the intake so I couldnt fit a socket over it and had to use a open end wrench and take like 1/8 turns with it, i broke the plug off the top of it doing my head swap a few weeks back, and my remanufactured heads had no plug in it, so i threw a new one in there. the relocated one worked like a charm. good luck and finding a 11/16 bit and a 3/8 pipe thread tap may be the hardest part of this modifaction.

you should be alright with those head gaskets as long as the combustion chamber was the right size on the gasket, which it should be

awesome so for getting the plug out of there with the heads on and everything is pretty slim then eh. If i welded on a bolt to it do u think it would **** the heads up at all cause if i tack on a bolt then just simply undo it technically it should work. I just wanna know if it would **** my heads uip taking a mig welder to it.

and i just wann know how is ur car with the 3.4 in it i never got to drive with my 2.8 cause i wasn't running and i didn't want to just rebuild the 2.8 or spend a fortune in gas on a 350 cause i like to cruise around alot. Is it actually fairly quick at all and overall is it an enjoyable car to drive from what i can imagine it should be pretty smooth.

its pretty quick, compared to the 2.8 that is. with my home ported and polished heads/intake, i 've raced a 99 stang 3.8 and beat him by 4 cars by 80 and a 99 maro 3.8 by 2 cars by 110, some headers in a few weeks should do some good, and im trying to decide whether or not it will be worth it to get a cam b/c i cant decide if im gonna keep my car before i got to UTI in pennsylvania, but having a 5 speed makes it very fun, the 3.42 rear is a blast.
