Hi i'm new, but wanted to introduce myself, and to hopefully lend a hand at some 2.8L mpfi questions. I'm 19 but i've rebuilt 2 of them now and have had 4 in my car (i'm rev happy and like drifting in ct snow LOL). I have a 1987 Chevy Camaro which I kind of like, kind of don't like. It was my first car and have spent a great deal of money on the car. I've put in new interior had almost every single piece out of the car now. I'm more into modding my 1990 Talon now, as i love turbo, and the thing is INCREDIBLE amounts faster than any of the 4 3rd gens i've had (87 camaro, 86 camaro, 86 iroc-z, and 92 RS). This is the only one I've liked because it's a 5spd. But here's some pics of it, and a link to my cardomain page, which has many more pics on. 1990 Eagle Talon - Derek's Eagle "brokeagain."

Nice car. You can always put a turbo on there, too.
Been awhile since I've been in the V6 board since i no longer own one, but i think doward was making a turbo kit?

The search button is your best friend. TO my knowledge, no one has installed a 4.3L because it requires the exact same amount of work to do as it would to install a small block. The Trans, Motor, and ECM/Harness all have to be swaped out.

I think the reason why most people do the 3.4 swap is because its pretty much the same motor just bored out a little more from the factory. everything bolts up to it the same and it goes in like it came off the line.
Nice little 60hp or so boost for a days work if done right.

its actually 25hp and 40lb/ft torque going from a 2.8 to a 3.4. but the 4.3 swap hasnt been done because its simply not worth it. its a 350 swap minus 2 cylinders. theyre torque engines.
btw, the 3.4 swap is a major upgrade, a day/night difference in power overall. there isnt a better bang-for-the-buck, unless you can do a turbo homemade.

I've driven an AWD turbo eclipse before. Very fast. very agile. There is just something about a camaro though, that would never let me sell mine. It may be just me, but I would turbo the 3.4. The bad engine management isnt an end all, it's a challenge. You can go with several different ecm's, or go with a megasquirt system. All possible.

on a side note- the first motor was bad when i got it, next one i rebuilt the bottom end and ended up, losing comp in one cylinder (bad rings i guess, they crumbled off) and wiped out crank, 3rd i hit a rock and got a hole in my oil pan, well you fill in the rest, and now i have my 4th one in! I don't want anymore!
