CF driveshaft

Just installed a CF driveshaft on the old firebird ...
I know i am not the first one with one on my V6 here, but maybe the second ?
As far as wheight gains go : the one i pulled from the car came in at 7.175 KG (15.81 pounds). The CF unit was suprisingly heavy : 5.925 KG (13.06 Pounds).
It is a BMR cf driveshaft ... i saw the wheight from a ACPT CF driveshaft here a long time ago and they were a lot less ...

Yeah, i think that they would probably account for most of the weight, but i found the post containing the weight of the ACPT driveshaft, and is says 4 lbs ... that is quite a difference ...
Carbon fiber driveshaft .... overkill ?
The weights were posted by someone who actually has one ...

The ACPT shafts are aluminum bonded ends and 100% carbon fiber shaft tube.

The BMR shafts are just carbon fiber wrapping around aluminum tubing to reduce vibrations. GM used to make a few factory shafts out of aluminum with only CF wrapping for dampering. hence why the BMR is still so heavy.

I own two ACPT shafts in two different vehicles and bothare extremely light. One of these vehicles used to have a GM CF wrapped shaft and the ACPT 100% CF shaft is much lighter by far than the factory CF wrapped shaft. I had to replace the factiory wrapped unit because after years of use and slight rubbing, the CF came loose (unbonded) on the aluminum shaft and moved about on it rendering it unbalanceable and unrepairable.

Aha, thanks for the info RTFC,very enlightning indeed ... i wasn't aware of that !
If i knew before,i would have ordered an ACPT shaft ... maybe later ... still have a lot of other things i would like to do to my car.
The ACPT shafts are 795$ (thunderracing). I payed my BMR shaft 599$ (BMRFabricaton). I ordered that because i had a large shipment (swaybars, tubural k-member and a-arms) from them and it would cost little extra to ship it (i live in Belgium, so shipping is a factor when i buy things).
