Basically go here and take a look at all of my 89' v6 2.8L stuff:
/users/bakersn/89 Camaro/Under Hood

That is under the hood.

btw, what is that bent tube doing there? (pic attached)

Also if you see *this pic* ... there is a circular deal that is there... it is missing on yours.

I hope this helps you some... BTW I have MPFI 2.8L v6... so no carb. I also have A/C.

dave, I'll never put a v8 in this car. In fact, I'm thinking next year of selling it.

scottie, I know whats missing, I took it out. This is more a "look at what I did" post. Fuel lines are stock fuel lines, nothing has been done to them.

dr1, are you wanting to do this? I'll tell you what all the parts are if you want.

I can't tell you how much I would love to do that. I eliminated everything on my daily driver(my 89 chev worktruck) but the wife has to have air conditioning in hers. Every little bit counts on these little motors. Are you reving quicker now Jay?

Here's a pic of my truck with an electric waterpump and a March pulley setup- I'd love to get the V6 this clean. This is all smog legal except for the aircleaner. So easy to work on.

wow. dude, you should switch to the 86 style belts. i ahve a "serp" belt from my crank to my alternator (elimintaed AIR) and a "v" belt from my crank to my powersteering pump and water pump. looks MUCH cleaner then the 4 delete pullys you are rocking. belts are cheaper too. unless you got a good reason to stay serp i would eliminate all that crap.

just my .20

PS, i'll take a current engine bay shot later and post it. my bay is looking cleeeeaaan

Jay has 4 delete pulleys? you must be seeing something noone else does because what I see is a complete removal of his smog pump and bypass directly off the crank to the alt. Then he has deleted the A/C in place for a very tinyplastic delete pulley so he can get clearance using the tensioner still and not hit the WP pulley on the top passover. He still has the factory powersteering pulley (which he needs), then back around the WP and then down to the smaller crank pulley

Equals 1 complete removal, 1 delete pulley, and one power pulley-
he doesn't even have 3 delete pullies, he has one.

wheres the clutter, I don't see it. Good job Jay.

your right, that is the tensioner (sp?). well, if ya switch out to early style accessorys you would not need one of those either.... but i am a huge fan of empty engine bays....

overall it looks fantastic btw. i am just nit picking.

EDIT* got that picture.

I'd rather not have the v-belts, plus that would require buying all new accessorys, which the alt is brand new. the ps pump I do need a new one, but its been "Bad" since I had the car, so no I'm gonna rock it.

DRR is exact down to the t on what has been done. Very good eyes.

I still have the v6 radiator, yet I have put the v8 fan system on mine. Battery is in factory position. They switched sides between the 2.8 and 3.1 from what I have noticed.

I have only drove it around the neighborhood to verify that "its ok". Tommorow on the way to work will be the true test. From my small drive, it revs no different. I did this more for clutter control, and for this board so we can have a cheap ac delete setup. A little bit for the weight savings. However, the pump is the heaviest part I took off. All the other shizzle doesnt even weight CLOSE to the pump alone.

Here is what you see....
The pully is the SC idle pully from a 99 L67 (3.8 s/c) engine. The bolt is the correct threads, but not long enough. So I had to get a new bolt. The bolt I found was shouldered, so I had to slowly file the center out a little plasic alighnment thing (you will see when you have used pully in hand, new pully will not have this).
I then had to space it out with 4 washers, and a shock retainer cup(them things that hold the shock rubber in?).
Bolt was long enough, I put a nut on the back side.
I then got an 83.5inch 5 rib belt. It is VERY tight. Now, this worked perfect for my setup, which is smog delete, and underdrive. The next belt down was 82? and the next belt up was 85?. However, I use to have the alt titled out to make up slack on an old belt. So if you have to go to another size, that is an option. I just lucked out on my length.

right on man. yeah... that would be alot of money to spend just to avoid a delete pully. a guy in my carclub (cascadecrew) did that just to get rid of the hassles asociated with serp and headers (305 v8). of course there is always somone in the crew parting a car, so the parts were easy to come by... getting them new woul.d be insane!

yeah, thoise compressors are like, 30+ LBS or so right? i never weighed the one off of my GTA (should have)....
