Rough idle, and also searching for idle

the car is a 2.8L V6 Carbed, I have replaced just about every vacum line on the car in the engine bay, Replaced the fuel filter, and i have a K&N airfilter on the car (last cleaned and oiled about 5k miles ago) the cat has been replaced about 1 month ago.

Symptoms: When cold and fast idle cam not engaged to warm up (sometimes i cant let the car sit, i have to leave right away ) the idle is right around 400-500 rpms, also during this time, if i try to accerate the engine will die out like it is flooded, once warmed the idle will hover between 750 and 1k rpms, the car doesnt die out at this time, but there is a huge bog between pressing the petal down and the car accelateing, as if the car is falling on its face.

When the fast idle cam engaged (when cold) the car idles at around 1500 rpm

I have checked to see if the choke was working, and it was, I am stumped, anybody have any ideas?

The problem: you live in Ca.

The solution: Move to the south, Camaro's like it better here.

It's your car, she is mad at you!

Seriously though, I have a MPFI. Hopefully a carb guy will come through soon. But, when I had a problem like that... it was a simple 50 cents fix. There were small plastic vacuum lines from the EGR... one of the rubber connector ends were corroded. I put another end on it and all of my problems went away. That connector went to a sensor I reckon.

Going back to my carb days ...it almost sounds like a bad accelerator pump inside the carb.It shoots a jet of fuel when you press down on the pedal..if the diaphram is worn/cracked etc. it wont give you shot of fuel and the car falls on it face until you back off the pedal and it picks up a little.Look down the throat of the carb without it running and whack the linkage for the gas down and see if you can see a good squirt of fuel,if not then either you have a weak fuel pump or the accelerator pump is weak.Hope that will help

alright, Just checked (have nothing better to do lol) I hit the linkage like i'm snaping the petal to the floor, and i get a good squrt (it sorta does a small squirt, then a nice long squirt) if i slowly move the linkage, it will do a, how can i put it into words (ill use squirt.... squirt): little sqirt...nothing...dribble, little squirt.

I'm like "yo, Amadea" and she's like "hrmm?" and I'm like "This aint gonna work babe" and she's like "sorry, I was just messin around with you hon" and I'm like "aight, cool" and she's like "yes sir! sorry to bother you sir!" and I'm like "aight, carry on" and she's like "yes sir!"

Anyways. ... Carb cleaner?? maybe spray some in?? I dunno a lot about carb deals >.< Sorry, but i'll hold you off w/ a stick until the other guys get here.

preaty much lol, just sitting around bored, already did my suspension mod for the day... I've already talked to her, but she doesnt listen... anyways...

sprayed the carb with carbcleaner a day or so ago. cleaned it up as best i could. This reminds me though.. A few months back the carb would "smoke" out of the air horn vent.. It was white smoke, never did figure out what was making it smoke...

Maybe she's blowing smoke up your ... er, butt! :P Some cars just crave attention. Did you give her a name?

Anyways, if it came out of horn... are your sure? it may be a vacuum leak somewhere. have you replaced your vacuum lines??? I need to, I think i'll pick up 20-25ft of vacuum lines on my next paycheck. they are pretty cheap... i got 3 ft for like $1.50 when I had to re-do one that broke off of something... still don't know what it was for though lol

Might not have been the air horn, but its the only vent on the top of the carb... anywho ive replaced all of the vaccum lines on the car expect for the hardlines (they were all fine) I did have a gas line break on me (the one that goes on the pump on the block to the carb) couldn't get the cheep *** line that i bought to bend the proper way so i had to make due with some rubber fuel line and a few sections of bent tubing (used a pipe bender, and also dubble flared the metal lines)

. Havent named her yet, I just call her baby lol. last thing i said to her was, Common baby, dont do this to me!

just thought of something (though mostlikely not the problem lol) Could it be a bad ICM or Coil? (also seems like the car is missing as well)

The dribbles ..no squirt ..then long squirt doesnt sound right.Everytime you open the throttle you should see the same uniform squirt not..little or no squirt.Try and start the vehicle and do the same procedure. If they dribble or no squirt... then..again check fuel pressure make sure it up to specs and if that is good you need to head into the carb. The accelerator pump is like a toilet plunger if you dont have a good seal you wont get the push of water down the pipe.
