1992 3.1 Heads and Cam question
Hi,
I have a 1992 camaro 3.1. Im not nearly as smart as the majority of the people on this forum. I was wondering about a new cam. How much power increase is there, with a good cam? Also whats all involved in a cam swap. I saw post on here saying that 3.4 heads as long as they are RWD will work with a 3.1? Thanks

the heads from the 85 2.8, all the 3.1 and 3.4 RWD heads are identical. as far as a cam, it depends on what youre looking for when you say good cam. power increases will depend on what else is done to the engine and what shape its already in. there is a lot that goes into choosing a cam, not just "i want more power" depends on where you want your torque curve, low, mid, or high RPM.
installing a new cam will involve removing the front accessories, waterpump, timing cover, valve covers, intake, pushrods, lifters, distributor, to get the cam out.
