when it wont turn over, is there a clicking noise or anything at all, or is there absolutely no noise. kinda of a dumb question too, but you do have power when it wont start right? all your lights, radio, etc still work?

Everything still works the lights and everything will still go on but the engine wont do anything. I just noticed last night that when I try to start it and it wont turn over that a yellow light flashes and says security. I dont know what that would be, the guy I bought it off of says theres no alarm system so I dont know what the hell is the matter.

What year is it? My 91 has the VATS system and would do kinda the same thing. It would light everything up but not start. The "chip" in the key was worn down. Bought a new key, hasent done it since. If it dosent turn over and the security light blinks, I would lean to the key being worn.

I had the same problem on my '92 bird - I bypassed the VATS and haven't had the problem since. It could be a worn key too - if you have a spare try using that key and see if the problem goes away.

BTW - the security light is a definite indication of a VATS problem.
