new fuelrail results. Do I need a cold start injector
Got a rail from the junkyard with the regulator. Pulled fuel lines out into the open on my car, installed spare injectors into rail and hooked up to lines. It's sitting on my radiator at the moment.
42 priming
38 once pump stops
30 after 11 minutes
26 after 20 minutes
25 after 30 minutes
21 after 50 minutes
I just noticed one injector is leaking a tad, so that's probably where the pressure is going. There's also a dampness in the dirt around the pressure test valve that's spreading very very slowly I think.
I didn't realize until the rail was most of the way off that it didn't have the cold start injector system. It was getting dark and I had a headache, etc etc.
Anyway, I figure I can run it without it, but how hard do you think it will be to start? I'd like to be sure it will start at all before I go to the work of switching the injectors and installing it.
Or should I go back and look for a different rail.
*did some searching, I guess I can run it, it just cranks longer when cold.

Your search is what I was told; it'd just crank longer. You can't buy new OR rebuilt cold start injectors anymore! Junkyards are the only option for them. So if mine ever goes, I won't replace it; I'll just cap off the fittings.

I went and asked for the price to see if they are available and I was told that it is but it comes as a kit with somethng else....can;t remember where but I'll post it when I do.

Well, I pulled another one from the junkyard with the CSI. Had dirt in it, so I darned near cleaned the clean off it. Anyway, using my regulator (from the rail that wouldn't hold pressure mind you) it holds the pressure pretty good now. I'll see how it does for mileage over the next couple days.
Somehow the old rail itself went bad.
