Having a lot of trouble w/ the 3.1

As some of you may know I've been debating on if I should beef up my V6 in my Camaro or just slam a V8 in it. Well I'm just going to stick with the V6 and do some work to it. I'm trying to fix it up and save to buy a 1998 Trans Am for college. So I need some help with my car. I have a list of problems. Here they are...

1: When I floor it my engine just reves up and doesn't go any faster.

2: When it's shifting into 2nd gear the trans popps really bad. It's been like that since I got the car back in 2004. It'll do it if it shifts around 3,000RPM but if I have it higher sometimes it won't.

3: When I have to defrost my windows my rear windshield doesn't defrost as quick as the others do.

I'll add more when I can think of them later. Thanks for the help/info in advance.

As for #3, do you use the defroster in the back window or are you just using the heater?

Well if you are not using/have the rear defroster(wires in back window), it might take longer for the hot air from the vents in the front of the car to heat the window in the back of the car.

You dont list what trans you have t5 or a4.

1. sounds mostly like a trans problem as already listed, but it could be the motor.

2. trans mount which is a VERY commen problem. 20-25 bux and 1 hour to fix. (if an auto, t5 needs an auto crossmember which makes it a bit more expensive.

3. If your just running your front defrost, it is not designed to defrost your rear window. thats why they have optional electric rear defrosters for these cars. since mine doesnt have that I close my outter dash vents, put it on heat and full blast. Still takes 10min or so just to get the fog off, no clue on real frost, snow, or ice.

and its shot. Go have a trans shop take a look at it. Expect 1-1.5gs for a rebuild.

you can probably get a used one on here for very cheap from somebody who is either swapping the engine or tranny. Give the classifieds a look. Also check craigslist.
