broken cable. not sure where it goes?

So when i was working on my cmaros 2.8 v6 somehow a connection cable of some kind was broke We arnt sure exactly what it does either. My car isnt downshifting into a passing gear when you nail the gas and my dad thinks that cable has something to do with it. idk. it is near the intake if that helps at all. i might be able to get pics later too.
thanks

Its the kick down cable for the auto. There should have 2 cables min connected to the TB. Throttle cable (to gas pedal), Cruise cable (you may not have this), and kickdown (also called a detent something).

If you have them all connected, then maybe the kickdown cable needs to be adjusted. There is a metal tab on kickdown cable assembly that is by the TB side. If you push it in, it will pull all the slack out that it can. Push the throttle wide open and it should be reset.

Let me know if this helped.

yeah, that helped a lot. I guess my dad was right. Only thing for me now is to try and figure out how to reatach the cable. it broke off somehow.

the plastic piece that holds the cable on is broken.. im not sure what to call it though and where i should go to find a new one

If I had my chiltons I could find it real quick, but I'm at work. Just go to a parts store and they can order you one. They will know what you need if you describe it well enough.
