motor Swap

I searched the threads and didnt find any revalent to my situatuion, so please help me out.

I have decided to swap my motor from a 2.8 to a 3.4 except when i called the yard to get a 3.4 that would line up to a rwd they wanted a 1100. They didnt know what motors i could use to swap though. So I am asking you what can i use for this motor swap?

Thanks

More searching is required. Unless you want a real project on your hands, get a 3.1 or 3.4 out of a camaro. A 3.1 may be cheaper due to a longer production run. Any FWD block will require new pistons/rods, heads, and the starter bolts redrilled. Check out my sig to see what I did to make a 2.8 block into a 3.1.

I applaud your efforts to get to the largest displacement direct swapping option. I can tell you, though, that you should not look past the later 2.8 or 3.1 V6 engines either if you are using it as a daily driver.

Just make sure to get one from 1987 or newer. You can use S-truck 2.8 throught 1990 or Camaro and Firebird through 1995 2.8 / 3.1 / 3.4

Have fun!!

I had a 90 firebird with a 3.1 and it was MUCH stronger feeling than the older 2.8's...

You will be happy with a 3.1 if you use it; it will NOT make your car into some kind of road rocket... it will be better, though...
