very. in fact it was a factory option in 1989. the TTA engine is a 231 CID 3.8L Buick block. the heads were different (for more clearence and A/C) but the buick heads WILL fit, it's just a bit snug. there were also some bottom end differences and a bunch of other little things to make it unique.

3.8
Thanks guys, and thanks Steve I appreciate it, right now I'm saving up for something and I had different ideas on what to do, but now that I know that I can put that 3.8 turbo buick engine in, that's what I'm saving up for now. Do you happen to know any sites that has the engine? By the way you have a great car, I saw the pic of the engine installed on your car and it looks amazing, I hope to one day get mines like that.

Thanks for the compliment
As for where to find an engine, I'd start with www.turbobuick.com and www.turbobuicks.com along with www.gnttype.org for information. There are a few people who have done the swap, each a little differently and you can see how you want to do it(and even if you want to do it). Look for 91Bird305 on turbobuick, he did the swap also only he used GN heads instead of TTA heads(I used TTA heads).
It's not the cheapest way to go, and there is alot to learn - but to me it's all worth it.

IIRC the TTA heads were actually FWD lesabre heads. So those should be easy as hell to find. For the work your going to do though, the 3.1 can be turbo charged and make sick power as well....

What do you think is the best move to make here, either swap to the Buick engine, or add a turbo from Turbo Dave to my current 3.1, consider cost above all, and performance of course.

If your car is running now and you're in money saving mode then keep saving until you can afford the Buick.
A little displacement will go a LONG way...
Just my two cents...

true dat
KrisW, yeah you're right I've been thinking about it and I'm just going to save up to get the Buick engine, it just makes it more exciting and the engine is bigger and the turbo comes with it allready I'm assuming so it will probably be easier and better looking if I get the Buick engine, because if I do put turbo into my engine now I probably would have to rebuild since I have over 160,000 on it, but it still runs, so I'll just wait a little longer, for now I'll just install a cold air intake and nothing more till I get the engine. Now finding a cold air intake is the hard part but I'll look it up right now.

all the CAI is, is a filter and a pipe.... goto to home depo or any hardware store and get a steel pipe that has a slight curve to it and then a cone filter, get some screw down clamps and mount your sensors to the pipe. you'll save about 80 bucks.
