starting problems 2.8l camaro
my problem started after i replaced the fuel pump , it takes a good 40 to 60 seconds to start sometimes longer cant hear the pump running when i crank but pump runs when i jump it, i also replaced the relay and relay harness thinking that was the problem and checked the fuse, no luck. i know the oil pressure switch energizes the pump if the relay or anything else does not work so the car runs. once it starts it runs fine, idles perfect, no hesitation just cant figure this one out

is the connectors corroded or damaged? and the same for the wires?
does the car have problems starting all the time? or just whyen it's hot? because it could also be the fuel pressure regulator.

You need to check for the power coming IN to the relay. I believe the computer tells the relay to prime up before it gets the oil pressure signal.
Why did you replace the pump? Did you have this problem with the old pump? You may just have a bad connection in the wire going between the computer and the relay...
Check all wiring connections to the relay and then try them again.
You jump the relay and it works? Jump it how? Are you just jumping the main wires that "power up" the pump? Try jumping the wire that turns the relay on from the computer. Your Chilton's or Hayne's manual should tell you which wire...
My Firebird manual says that the dark green wire with the white stripe should power up the relay for priming...

This is the PERFECT time to go through hours and hours of old posts!!!
After years of working on these cars, I think the wiring diagram in the Chilton Total Car Care manual is the best. It's the easiest for me to use, anyway. It is well worth the money.
