rebuilding the 2.8
I posted a while ago that i was looking to put a 4.3 in my camaro. However, since this is my first build, i'm sticking with the 2.8. I bought a master kit, got the block cleaned, all bearings replaced. Here is the bad part. I take my heads to a machine shop to check the valves, and i find out three days later that BOTH of my heads are cracked. My question is: I have a set of heads from a 3.1. Can i put those on my 2.8 if i need to, or do i need to find another set of 2.8 heads?

Re: rebuilding the 2.8
the 3.1 is the exact same heads as the 2.8 only the 3.1 is stroked. SO there might be different sized lifters because of the cam. I know one of the gm sites have all the specs i just can't remember which one it was. It would probably not be hard to find with google.

Re: rebuilding the 2.8
why would the lifters and cam be different because the motor is stroked?
The heads are the same. depending on what year 2.8 you have, you may have had the smaller valves in it, anyway. So, you'll be fine with the 3.1 heads.
