Modifying Dual Snorkel Intake
I saw a post a while ago about someone modifying the dual snorkel of a tpi camaro. I bought one and about to put it on a 3.1 v6. Anyone know about modifying the dual snorkel ?

You don't need to modify it. You need to get a piece of plastic pipe or something similar to take the place of the MAF sensor. The accordion tube from the throttle body isn't long enough otherwise. I've done the same thing with my 92 RS.

It doesn't make a difference. Some people say they feel a difference, but if you think about it, they are designed to flow enough air for a motor just about 2x as big as yours, you will never exceed it's flow potential.
That and even if it does give you 1-2hp, you'll never really be able to feel that anyway.

Just do this. I just gutted the MAF out of it. I raced it regularry and didnt really see a difference in 1/4 mile times but it sure does look a hellof a lot better then the air filter can set up. Believe me our engines do not flow enough air stock, to require much more modding to the air intake. This is just to help get cooler air to the engine and make it look better.

Looks amazing very nice. Did you just buy the CIA on eBay?
Did u notice any mpg gain ?
Looks like you keep your V6 well maintained what other work have you had done that keeps it running strong? Under drive pulley for the crank or anything, heads, would u ever set a 3.4 in there ? Heard it can be done very easy?

but the two go hand in hand, intake mods can't help, if the engine can't push it out.

Re: Modifying Dual Snorkel Intake
Car just has low miles on it. And always garage kept.
I didnt notice a substantial MPG gain or HP either. Just mainly I did it to make the engine bay look better. I got the dual snorkle intake out of a junk yard for 20 bucks. Thats the best place to get them cheep if you have any decent yards arround ya.
My car is far from what you see in that picture above though. Read the sig and youll see its far from what it was 2 years ago.
Best bang for the buck. Cam, port your heads, get some exhaust on there and thats about it. Seeing you have a 3.1L also a tune will be needed for it to keep the Mpgs and run right if you ever go cammed and ported heads.
