Dirt and a message

Hi everyone, I removed the top air plenum part from my engine to be able to change my thermostat and as I looked into the passage ways, they are DIRTY!!!! all black dirt!!! Is this normal? Should I clean it? How would I be able to? And I guess "Todd" worked on this engine previously lol heres a picture....

You can see how dirty those assage ways are. The other part of the plenum is just as bad.

Thanks in advance!

its normal, its just carbon build up. you can clean it out with some catb cleaner if you take the intake off.
