Re: bent the crankshaft what to do with it?

make a table out of it, put a lamp on top. and put it somewhere kind of hidden, so when people do notice it they will be like"WTF!!!!!"

Use it as a beating stick for the first guy that wants to take your daughter out.

Is it noticeably bent? If so, snap a pic for us .

Re: bent the crankshaft what to do with it?

its still i n the motor, in responce to ur ? about the boost spike in the other thread, i think this was the result of that. since the turbo was mounted over the cs pulley i never noticed it.

at first i thought the balancer went bad but apon closer inspection i noticed the bolt in the cs also was moing around, so i pulled the ballancer and pulley threw a dial indicator on the cs snout and pun the motor over, sure enough shes bent. just about .250

Re: bent the crankshaft what to do with it?

eek!

I make garage stools out of my extra cranks. I used a 350 flexplate on a 3.1L crank that got gouged. I then bolted a 15x7 RS wheel to the top. Its actually pretty comfy. I also have a honda D15 with flexplate that has an old Neeper rim on it. Lol.

So it's really a flat spot in a journal?

Re: bent the crankshaft what to do with it?

no more then likley the crankshaft is cracked, a flat spot would not make it wobble like it was. once i have time to get the motor out of the car and disassemble it ill take pics of the carnage.
my quess is its cracked between the #1&2 rod journals or right in between #2 rod and #2 main

Yeah, I guess that's what I was getting at. You can bend forged steel, but even the "steel" v6 crank will break, but I have seen some weird stuff in my day.

Ever see what 30psi (tuned of course) will do to a cast piston as soon as detonation hits it?

I'd make a lamp out of it and put it in the living room.

Re: bent the crankshaft what to do with it?

well i said bent but u cant bend a iron cs, though if u crack it without breaking it it apears bent. which im sure is what happened. with .250 runout on the snout im sure the thing is just about to break.motor also happens to only have 5-10 psi oil presure at idle.it wont be long before its out of the car so ill get pics up soon

HMMM, it's funny, but I thought "what would happen if I bolt the rod cap back on and turn the boost up to 20psi, just to take a pass at the track".

I know that's the only thing stopping me (ruining the block).
And yes the bearing is $5, but when the last one spun in the journal - replacing the bearing will last maybe 200 miles. But yes the bearings would be new if I were to "band-aid" it, but when I just got a rotating assy for a 3.1 for $75 delivered....

Remember, my crank and rod(s) are scored.

HOWEVER! If I sell this MegaSquirt, the 3.4/3400 hybrid will be comming sooner than thought, WOOT WOOT.
