Need Answers ASAP

Need answer Everytime I crank my car and give it some gas I hear what seems to be the AC starting up everytime I step on the gas and it refuses to stay cranked . The mechanic tells me their is no vac leaks. I run some seafoam gas adetive thru the tank because the mech told me I had bad gas. so I ran the tank and so I go back today and he now tells me I might have a clogged fuel filter. And he is starting to really **** me off so what could be the problem. I was thinking it was the o2 sensor because when it idles it goes to 2K and then comes back down to 700 rpms. Oncxe the car quits it sounds like the FP is then priming And possible solutions or places to start looking

Re: Need Answers ASAP

Does it idle up and down, or just go up to 2K and then come down and idle normally, if it's bouncing, then there is almost definitly a vac leak. Sounds like it's time to find a new mechanic IMO.

Re: Need Answers ASAP

The gas was black as the devil and the FF had never been changed. So I went to check the oil and its bone dry and I found oil on the block but where could it be coming from and could this be the source of the cranking problem because of the oil escaping so the pressure is royally screwed

Re: Need Answers ASAP

I was just told by some members I had that but you know how that is
2. So if no oil will the car still run and then quit . The reason Im asking is if I give it some gas every other time it will crank sometimes. so could the oil be the problem

Re: Need Answers ASAP

There is an oil pressure switch screwed into the oil filter adaptor that is DESIGNED to SHUT OFF the engine in the event of low oil pressure (or, in your case, NO oil pressure). This was probably installed as a safety measure so that the fuel pump didn't keep running when the engine was stalled in an accident. The oil on the block doesn't mean anything at the moment. Having NO oil in the pan AND running the engine DOES. That's a good way to kill your bottom end.

No such thing as a failsafe on our cars. The pressure switch is designed to actually bypass the fuel pump relay and get the pump running once you have pressure. This way you are not stranded if your relay goes bad.

If your oil pressure drops, you better either be paying attention to your guage or see the idiot light real quick, 'cause you have to shut the engine off yourself.
