trying to start a project

I've been here for a while and I've been trying to figure out what to do with my 2.8l v6. It runs well but it's just not fast enough! I looked at all my options turbo on what i have now sounds like a pain since i dont have time to really work on my car and not be able to drive it. Forget just beefing that engine up too sounds like way to much money. A v8 swap would be great but I dont think I have the time or skill to do that. So that leaves me with this whole 3.4l swap sounds like a good idea to me since I could buy the 3.4l and have it in the garage to work on it and all and then when im ready to drop it in I can have my car back up and running in a week or so maybe less. I'd like to piece together a turbo setup to for a 3.4l. I start college in late august so I figure i can get everything together this summer and then work on my car on the weekends since i wont need to drive it while im at school. I just want some input on this like if the 3.4 is a good idea to start with since ive never done a swap before and if its a good idea to turbo it. If anyone has a 3.4l engine from an f-body up for sale let me know because I'm haveing trouble finding one. thanks

Wow man. Welcome to the boards.

Doing just the 3.4 swap would do wonders. You may not want to do the turbo after you do that. If you really wanted to have fun with it, convert a FWD 3.4 to RWD. It involves a small amount of work and they are way easier to find.

You will find lots of info in the boards if you know what to search for!

You really got a nice setup going for you. Nitrous is a possibility but i'm not so sure how well my engine would take it, it has 171k on it. Well anyway I called a place yesterday looking for a 3.4l from a fourth gen he didnt have one at the time but he told me to check back in a few weeks and that he usually sells them for 650.00. Sounds like a steal to me since I have someone offering me one that has 76k for like 1,000.00 plus id have to drive half way to pittsburg to pick it up.

Like I said before, you can use a FWD block too and possibly get a better deal. If you did that, you would have to get new pistons. Everything else would swap over from your old motor. If you're lucky you can get a block with roller lifters!
