Any of you guys try a mini/high-torque starter motor?
Just wondering if any of you have tried one of those aftermarket mini/high-torque starter motors? Any problems? How long as has it lasted?
After 9 years, my rebuilt starter gave up on me- and the place that rebuilt it for me has gone out of business! So I was thinking of "upgrading" to one of those mini-units, even though I know I don't need extra torque to spin this motor over.

i am using one on my 350 car. i went with a "powermaster" mini-starter. the first one i got was broken, the guy at baxters said it was the first warantee return he had ever done on one. the second one has been in for about a year. i am pretty satisfied with it.
so tom, do you have a thirdgen again or is this for some other car? last i remember seeing you were switching all your stuff to a new chassis due to rust, did that ever happen?

im in the same boat as you right now. i dont need the extra power but the headers burned out my old starter. so now i need a new one and a starter shield.

i matched upa sbc mini starter to the v6 starter and i came up with a different tth count and pitch 0n the drive gear. it prlly wuld have worked but i never put it in,just went back t the stocker.
i remeber reading a post were there is a later model starter (smaller) that u can use on the rwd engines though
